What do I need to do for my child to be a part of the IB MYP at Pinckneyville? Is there an application process?
All students who attend Pinckneyville participate in the Middle Years Program. It is not necessary to complete an application. Sometimes, other IB MYP programs require this, because they operate a "school within a school" model as opposed to the "whole-school" model used at Pinckneyville.
What will my child be learning?
The curriculum at Pinckneyville will continue to follow the Gwinnett County Academic and Knowledge Standards. The delivery and assessment of that information will reflect the learning styles and interdisciplinary approach required by MYP.
How will I know how my child is doing?
Your child will be continue to be assessed by Pinckneyville teachers using Gwinnett County Schools grading practices. Additionally, students will be assessed in their progress through the MYP based on criterion as defined by the International Baccalaureate and Pinckneyville's assessment policy.
How can I support my child's learning?
The MYP sees learning as a partnership between student, parent and school.
You can help your child by:
Reading, watching or listening to national and international news and discussing the impact.
Asking your child open-ended questions to allow them to define and express their opinion.
Encouraging and assisting your child in becoming more involved in community service activities.
