School Highlights

The following school highlights showcase how Pinckneyville Middle School is fulfilling Gwinnett County Public School's four strategic priorities of Empathy, Equity, Effectiveness, and Excellence. Visit the School Profile Dashboard to find more detailed data on our school.

HISTORICAL ACCOLADES:

  • Artificial Turf Field: Working with community members, Pinckneyville was able to secure funds to install a new artificial turf field and running track. The school held a ribbon-cutting ceremony in May 2024 to dedicate the new field.
  • Fine Arts:
    • Band: Both symphonic band and symphonic winds scored superior ratings at GMEA large group performance evaluation. We were pleased that 18 Band students were chosen for District Honor Band. In April, the symphonic winds earned the gold award and were selected as the sweepstakes and grand champions at Southern Star Music Festival. Twelve students scored high enough to attend the state-level auditions. Four students were selected for the GMEA All-State Band, and one student was selected as an alternate for the GMEA All-State Band.
    • Chorus: Our Chorus department had a terrific year of growth, gaining 80 new members in the 6th grade. Other memorable highlights include our students’ annual performances, including the PMS Black History Night. In October, twenty students were recognized when they were selected to perform in Honor Choir in Athens, Ga. At Large Group Performance Evaluation, our chorus received an overall rating of Excellent; at the Southern Star Music Festival, we received an overall rating of Silver.

    • Orchestra: Our orchestra students performed in the Norcross Cluster Orchestra Concert at Paul Duke STEM High School and earned Excellent ratings at the Large Group Performance Evaluation sponsored by Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA).

  • International Baccalaureate: Pinckneyville Middle School completed its 20th year as a Middle Years Programme (MYP) International Baccalaureate (IB) World School in 2023–24. Students can continue their IB studies at Norcross High School.

  • PBIS:  Pinckneyville Middle is a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) school. PBIS encourages positive behaviors with recognition for students who exhibit appropriate school conduct.

  • Reflections: Students at every grade level earned recognition in the PTA-sponsored celebration of the arts and literature.

  • Soccer: Our soccer teams have shown great success in the last few years with our Boys winning county in 2018 and placing in the Final Four in '19, '20, '21, and '22 and our Girls being the reigning champions and undefeated for the past 7 years. This is all made possible through teamwork, technical, and tactical skills that we look to instill into every player.
